INTO THE DREAM HOME

INTO THE DREAM HOLE is the whimsical tale of a spider with no name who is experiencing an identity crisis after 14 years of waiting for its mother to come back from the other side of the universe. After chewing a magic leaf which is rumored to make communication with various cosmic entities possible, the spider enacts a plan to find and enter the Dream Hole - a legendary depository for all of the lost and broken dreams in the world - and travel throughout space and time in an effort to realize its ultimate role in the complex web of universal existence. Unfortunately, things don’t go as planned.

“The man behind the name is our good friend Rence Liam, who’s been tearing it up with his eccentric attention demanding one-man-band performances across the USA. Imagine attending a secret party thrown by Salvador Dali in an ornate smoke-filled drinking parlor in the dark belly of a creaky figate with Blackbeard, Captain Beefheart and a bunch of crazed, violent gypsies… Lots of old timey instruments (Accordion, Cornet, Trombone, Banjo etc.) played very energetically with a near-punk delivery with Rence’s belted lyrics over-the-top.. Quite a spectacle!”

“Dear Rabbit killed it tonight. He live looped layers of acoustic guitar and mellow trumpet, a la Andrew Bird, and then sang into his guitar pickups for yet another layer… he unplugged and walked off stage-right into the intimate foyer where an old out-of-tune piano sat waiting…”

“After chawing on gravel and carpet tacks, Everett Bros. Moving Company spits out pearls of purest sheen, jewels of starry brilliance, and a keening, crooning growl that reaches into your innermost being and plucks out that which you hold most dear, that which you had forgotten or never knew, that which makes life complete.”

BEAUTIFUL POSSIBILITY: A Traveling Exhibition and Research Project

Visiting artist Alison Pebworth’s exhibition/research project takes the prototype of the 19th century American Traveling show as inspiration for engaging others about what it means to be American. This interactive project combines art, history, and anthropolgy for an investigative look at obscured people, places, stories, and myths and how they contribute to our collective understanding as who we are as Americans.
